CSX has recently announced that it has managed to reach its voluntary goal of reducing all greenhouse gas emissions by eight percent per revenue ton kilometer and all of this was reached ahead of schedule. This major achievement was only expected to be undertaken by the very end of 2011, but CSX managed to power through demands and reduce their gas emissions by one point five million metric tons which is roughly the equivalent of removing over three-hundred thousand cars off the road.
