With an Acrylic sheet, it is possible to fashion eco-friendly products that replace toxic materials in signage (such as store displays that incorporate an Acrylic mirror), greenhouses and much more. Companies have realized this and now eco plastic is the next trend, as in producing a material that uses energy effectively in its creation process. No one understands this concept more than Kristen Brown, the daughter of the man who created the high-density plastic bag. Almost three decades ago, Gordon Dancy pioneered a bag that changed the face of our ecosystem – for better or worse. These eco plastic bags lasted far longer than ordinary shopping bags, yet on the flip side they cost more energy to produce, as well as to recycle.
Kristen is the founder of the MY ECO range of products, with one of her products being new eco plastic solutions such as her reusable shopping bag invention. Kristen took a year to create the bags – made from recycled polypropylene, (plastic used in the production of milk bottles and yoghurt tubs) these bags are durable and take the place of thirty plastic bags, providing better storage and a safer way to transport your goods.
It is a four bag system that can fit into any grocery basket. The first bag is the smallest, with fabric bands that run around the side, keeping delicate items in place. The second bag has an insulated liner and is ideal for preserving frozen or chilled food as it is transported home. Bag number three is large enough for all vegetables and fruits; the fourth bag is the largest and is ideal for the remaining products. All four are designed to fit into any shopping cart and have anti-bacterial lining that is easily wiped clean of dirt and liquid. All four bags are designed to be zipped into the largest bag, which acts like a tote. In order to raise awareness, Kristen will be joining with certain local schools in order to challenge the perception of recyclable goods; and for every bag purchased and registered on their website, the participating school will receive redeemable points that can be used to purchase eco-friendly supplies.
The bags will be sold through her website and at grocery stores that wish to support the eco plastic grocery bag system. The price is estimated to be under £12; therefore anyone can afford to keep their town free of excess plastic bags by purchasing this eco plastic product.
