Emma Watson rose to fame as a child when she landed the coveted role of Hermione Granger in the phenomenally successful Harry Potter film franchise. Now an elegant and beautiful 20-year-old, Emma Watson has become known for her fashion sense as much as for her acting capabilities. Footwear modelled by the British actress flies off the shoe hook displays at international fashion outlets; fans of Emma Watson can’t wait to add the starlet’s latest favourite clothes and shoes to their own wardrobe and retailers can hardly re-stock the accessory and footwear hooks fast enough. Now, Emma Watson will put her star power behind the eco-friendly fashion industry by designing a new line of “green” clothing.

The latest news is that Emma Watson will be collaborating with the Italian fashion house Alberta Ferretti to create an eco-friendly clothing line with a classic look and feel. This won’t be Emma Watson’s first eco-friendly fashion project; 2010 saw the launch of a spring clothing line for teenagers and young adults, which Emma Watson created in close collaboration with the Fair Trade fashion brand People Tree. This eco-fashion range is what first caught the attention of Ferretti.

Emma Watson is so committed to producing eco-friendly fashion that she isn’t concerned about profiting from it; she didn’t request payment for the People Tree project, and says “I will work for anyone for free if they are prepared to make their clothing fair trade organic”.

The new clothing line is due to appear in stores shortly after Christmas. Eco-friendly fashion is steadily gaining popularity among high-end fashion designers and celebrities; stars like Emma Watson are doing great work by promoting ethically produced clothing that has minimal impact on the environment. We can’t wait to see what stylish “green garments” the young actress designs next!
